5 Good Deeds to Make the World a Better Place ”
It can be hard to feel as though the world is a positive place when you read the headlines each morning. From wars to political struggles, to poverty and disease, many things make everything feel bleak. However, it is important to remember that there are good people in the world, and positive things are happening all of the time. The saying goes ‘be the change you wish to see in the world’, and if you want to try to help make the world a little brighter for yourself and others, here are five good deeds you should try.
Is there a particular charity that means something to you? Or a cause you’re passionate about? If so, think about starting a fundraiser to help support your organization of choice and to raise awareness about the issues they deal with. It could be anything from a hiking challenge, a sky-dive, a charity ball, or even selling candy bars. Alternatively, you could donate to organizations like the Red Cross who run holiday giving schemes, or a charity that does something similar.
Volunteering is another great way to give back and make a positive change in your local community. Whether it’s looking after a community garden during the weekend, visiting the elderly in a nursing home, or teaching kids a sport or class after school, there are plenty of things you can do in your spare time to help out. It shouldn’t be hard to find something you enjoy and are passionate about for you to dedicate your time to as a volunteer.
Help Your Elderly Neighbors
Senior citizens might not always ask for help when they need it, and many of those who are living alone can feel isolated and lonely. If you have an elderly neighbor that you are on good terms with, consider taking the time to invite them over for a coffee one Saturday afternoon, or offer to do their grocery shopping for them. Even if they decline your offer, they will appreciate the thought and know they can ask you for help if they need it.
Taking care of the planet and Mother Nature is just as important as looking after other people. Something as simple as making the effort to recycle could be a big help in keeping the Earth in good shape, especially if everyone started to do it! If you want to go one step further, think about other changes you can make at home to become more self-sustainable and create an environmentally friendly house.
Finally, make sure you’re taking the time to check in with friends, family, and even your colleagues at work. It’s easy to get wrapped up in your lifestyle and problems while forgetting that someone else might need someone to talk to. Take the time to check in with those around you to make sure they’re OK and to let them know you’re there for them.
The world isn’t an entirely negative place, and you could make a big difference to people by doing something to give back to society with one of these good deeds.
