Some days I don’t know what I did before the screen in my jeans took control of every aspect of my life. Was I wandering around in the dark using an abacus because I didn’t have instant access to a flashlight and calculator? Naw, but I certainly couldn’t manage my calendar, prescriptions, and maps without fumbling with a lot of paper.

Last month, we told you that CVS Pharmacy is now at Target. Along with cardigans, lattes and small appliances with your medications, you can now enjoy the perks of some tech tools at both Target and regular CVS stores.

So, let’s talk about some of the cool digital tools that can help us all manage our health care without getting paper cuts.

CVS pharmacy app for refills. For both iPhone and Android, I can use the CVS pharmacy app to manage prescriptions and refills. I can schedule and pay for medicines right in the app. Easy peasy.

Apple watch integration. I don’t yet have one of these fancy watches that can talk to me and make dinner for my family (they do that, right?). Using the CVS app, the Apple watch can remind you when to take your medicine. Smart!

(By the way, you can even buy an Apple watch while you’re shopping at Target!)

CVS.com Drug Information center. Online, I can trust this one-stop site to search thousands of drugs to better understand prescription details, the likelihood of side effects, and possible drug interactions.

Future innovations include scanning insurance cards and driver’s licenses to save you from awkward thumb-typing. And in the way-out future, you might even be able to scan your baby’s fever with a device and zap it right the 24-hour pharmacy, but now I’m getting ahead of myself.

I haven’t fully mastered the CVS rewards system, which I know a lot of people are obsessed with, but I see that little “My Deals & Rewards” button on the app. Do you take advantage of them?

Disclosure: I’m proud to be working with CVS Pharmacy on the CVS Pharmacy Difference Campaign. All opinions expressed are my own, and all product claims or program details shared should definitely be verified at CVS.com or with the appropriate manufacturers.
