How to look after your money ”
You work hard for every dollar you earn, so it’s important that you get the most value out of every single dollar you spend. Here are some top tips on how you can look after your money and end up with more in your bank account at the end of each month.
Avoid being caught out by a scam
If something appears too good to be true, it’s usually because it is indeed too good to be true. If somebody is offering you large sums of money for very little work, it’s highly likely that they’re trying to scam you out of some money. There are many different stories that these scam artists will use to persuade you to send them money, some of the most common are romance scams. Another popular method used by these criminals is to impersonate a foreign royal or lottery service offering you a large cash amount. The only catch is that they say you need to pay an administration fee to access the money. Once the victim has transferred the administration fee to these criminals, they then take that money and stop all communication with whoever they’ve targeted. A simple rule to avoid scams like these is to never send your bank details to anybody over the internet.
Avoid paying for subscriptions you don’t use
Many subscription services will offer a free month’s trial to attract people to join their service. These are extremely tempting to most people as you’re quite literally getting a much sought-after service, like access to hundreds of TV shows and movies on a video streaming website, completely for free. The only problem is many people forget when their free trial period ends that they’ll need to start paying for the service. If you submitted your bank details during the set-up process for your free trial, it’s highly likely that the company will take your money as soon as the free trial period ends. If you don’t want to pay for this service, it’s important to read the terms and conditions and cancel your subscription before the end of the free trial period. As well as this, regularly check your bank account for any reoccurring payments for services you’ve either forgotten about or rarely use.
Search for the best deals
One of the most effective ways to look after your money is to simply spend less of it in the first place. If you’re buying something online, it’s highly likely that many different websites will be selling it at completely different prices. If it’s an expensive item, you could save hundreds of dollars by shopping around for the cheapest deal. Once you’ve found the cheapest deal, see if you can save even more money by searching for available discounts. You can now install plugins to search for the best discount codes on whatever website you’re visiting. If you’re buying from a website for the first time, many brands will offer you an exclusive code for subscribing to their email newsletter, so check whether this offer is available before purchasing.
