Pediatric Research Studies in the U.S. ”

Wake Research is enrolling in pediatric research studies for migraine, constipation, eczema (atopic dermatitis), and pneumococcal vaccine.

There are many reasons people want to be a part of a clinical trial. Benefits include free physical exams and testing, education regarding your child’s condition, access to treatment options, free investigational medications/treatment for the duration of the study, the possibility of improvement of your child’s symptoms, compensation for time and travel expenses, and your direct contribution to medical advancement.

Why are Clinical Trials Necessary?

Every FDA-approved medication, treatment, or medical device available today has been tested in a clinical trial. Clinical trials test the safety and effectiveness of a proposed medication or treatment compared to a placebo or existing therapies. They predict how well a medication or therapy will perform in the general population when used to treat a certain condition.

Why should my child participate?

There are many benefits. You’ll be taking a proactive role in your child’s health care. They will receive free medical screenings and study medication. Clinical trials offer access to cutting-edge research treatments before they are available to the general public. On a broader level, your child’s participation in a clinical trial helps others by contributing to the development of treatments that can alleviate suffering and even save lives.

Are clinical trials safe?

Our number one priority is the safety of all trial participants. Your child will be under close supervision by medical professionals during the study for any adverse reactions and/or side effects. They will receive no-cost study-related medical care and attention by highly trained medical professionals.

What are my rights as a research participant?

As a research participant, you have the right to accurate and timely information about the study and the right to ask questions at any time and have them answered promptly. Our number one priority is the safety of all trial participants. You can also choose to discontinue your participation at any time for any reason.
